Pub Street and Night Market in Siem Reap

Cambodia is known as a magnet of tourists as it is home to stunning historical temples, rich culture, Khmer gastronomy and floating markets. It is undoubtedly a very famous tourist destination to every foreign nationalities across the world. The pub street and night market in Siem Reap is another reason for you to stay up late at night and have the time of your life in the Kingdom of Wonders.

As part of my Siem Reap experience, I went to join the crowd of mixed foreign nationalities and wandered the streets in amazement as I stepped into another culture. I’ve been to a lot of night markets in my country and other countries too like Mongkok in Hong Kong and China Town in Singapore. The pub street and night market in Siem Reap surely left me a wonderful mark in my memory.

Pub Street in Siem Reap

Just by the name itself “Pub Street” invites every tourists to come. I came alone to this beautiful country while I was solo traveling and I have already heard to my friends who’s been to Siem Reap to stop by the Pub Street. Of course, I took their recommendation and found myself indulging to an alley of mixed bars, restaurants and food stalls.

For tourists who wants to get drunk and wasted, the Pub Street is definitely the place for you. Surely, there are lots of foreigners you can see in this alley. Under the colorful lights and glowing signs of the restaurant and bar names, you can see and witness a horde of drunk and amazed tourists eating, drinking and dancing to the loud music. I was really amazed as I emerged to this crazy alley.

The influx of tourists in the Pub Street can be expected every night as there is no single dull corner in this alley. It might be a good time for you to meet new friends along the way if you’re up to these kinds of events. As for solo female travelers like me, you’d probably just want to keep a low profile here. Don’t get too drunk! And just a fair reminder to beware of pickpockets here too. Always exercise extra caution especially when you are traveling alone.

Angkor Night Market in Siem Reap

A few stone’s throw from the Pub Street is the Angkor Night Market. Here is a series of a seemingly endless stalls of souvenirs to buy in a typical night market. If you’re not into loud thudding music and alcohols, this is the place you should go!

To give you a bit of information, the Angkor Night Market is the first night market to have opened in Siem Reap last 2007. And it caters not only to foreigners but also to locals looking to mingle and have fun with other nationalities.

Angkor Night Market is where you can find a lot of souvenir items too. Most of the things you can find here are paintings, cobra snake wine, mostly elephant souvenirs, ref magnets, key chains and souvenir shirts. The paintings are my personal favorite as it mostly features elephants. For only 5-10 USD you can get yourself a souvenir painting.

Aside from strolling the streets, you can also get epic photo shoots of the Khmer style street here. The lighting and style of the street is really good! I’d really want to get a photo of me for the gram here but sadly I was traveling alone. Lol.

To conclude, I personally enjoyed the Angkor Night Market compared to the Pub Street because I was able to indulge myself in a series of Khmer culture just by strolling the streets. Still, the Pub Street could be really fun especially if you are with friends and if you’re into getting wasted, lol.
