HOW TO GET TO BORACAY FROM CATICLAN OR KALIBO AIRPORT?

Going to Boracay anytime soon? If you are looking for a way to minimize your expenses for your Boracay trip, a good way to do it is to get to Boracay the DIY way. You’ll save almost twice the expenses compared to when you book a transfer. So here’s a step-by-step on how to get to Boracay from Caticlan!

STEP 1: MANILA TO CATICLAN / KALIBO

First things first, there are no airports in Boracay island. The closest airports are in Caticlan and Kalibo which are both in Aklan. Additionally, the nearest will be Caticlan Airport (MPH) which is approximately 10 minutes away from Caticlan Jetty Port. Kalibo Airport (KLO) on the other hand is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Caticlan Jetty Port. Most of the cheapest flights to Boracay is headed to KLO.

From Manila, book a flight to MPH or KLO via Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific or AirAsia. Alternatively, sea travel is also available via 2GO vessel from Batangas Port. You may check the schedule of sea travel here.

STEP 2: CATICLAN / KALIBO AIRPORT TO CATICLAN JETTY PORT

From Caticlan Airport

If you’ve chosen Caticlan airport to be your airport, there are tricycles available just outside the airport and the fare is Php150.00/USD3 for 2-3 person. Again, it’s only 10 minutes away so be careful of scams, don’t pay more than Php200.00.

From Kalibo Airport

If your airport is in Kalibo, there are buses and vans outside the airport that will take you to Caticlan Jetty Port. The cheapest options is by bus which will take 2-3 hours travel time and the fare is approximately Php250.00/USD5. STEP 3: CATICLAN JETTY PORT TO BORACAY JETTY PORT

Once you arrive in Caticlan Jetty Port, go inside and have your bags checked then pay the necessary fees. Pay the environmental fee and terminal fee of Php175.00 per person. Meanwhile the cheaper boat costs Php50.00 and the fast craft costs Php100.00 one-way. The travel time is only 10-15 minutes to get to Boracay Jetty Port.

Beware of pickpockets inside the Caticlan Jetty Port. This place is usually very crowded because it is the gateway to Boracay Island. Moreover, there are money exchange centers and ATM machine available inside.

STEP 4: BORACAY JETTY PORT TO YOUR HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

Upon arriving the port, charter an e-trike going to your hotel accommodation. The usual fare is Php100.00/USD2 per person.
